Disciple Making Video

November 16, 2011

It is about embodiment of Jesus and all that he stands for. Jesus movements that change the world are at core, disciple-making systems.

For the follower of Jesus, discipleship is not the first step in a promising career, but the fulfillment of their destiny to be conformed to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29).

Totally right. Alan hits it out of the park. The interesting difference between consumerism and true discipleship (being a follower of Jesus) is that disciples are to be sold out for Christ. If we're sold out, there's nothing left to buy into other than Jesus...because we're... sold... out.

So next we want to consider what our priorities are when we pull into the parking lots of our churches, which to many of us have become our second homes, our second families. Is it about continuing the feel-good for ourselves, or is it still about Jesus? Do we vote against change in our church because we're afraid we're going to lose that thing we've been buying?

Sold out. It's not about you. It's about Jesus and helping other people find him along the way. Has the secular religion of consumerism found its way into your church? Or is your church sold out for the sake of Jesus Christ?
