Contributions
The Brethren Church denomination-wide budget for each year is established annually by the representative delegates from each congregation at General Conference. We depend on local congregations and its members to fund this budget reflecting the vision and mission described elsewhere on this website. The largest part of our support comes from this Fair Share giving of local Brethren congregations. Over the years various methods have been used to calculate Fair Share. Since 2008, Fair Share has been based on 10% of the local congregation’s reported income. We ask that at the conclusion of each month each church send their Fair Share support check to the National Office reflecting 10% of the previous month’s offerings.
For each dollar contributed through Fair Share, 80¢ is used to support the vision and mission of The Brethren Church, 10¢ is sent to Ashland Theological Seminary for their general support, and 10¢ is sent to Ashland University to support their Center of Religious Life and Campus Ministry. Each local congregation is also asked to contribute to the Brethren Relief fund. We ask that each year an amount equal to $5.00 times the church’s annual average worship attendance be sent.
In addition to Fair Share, The Brethren Church also relies on the additional designated gifts of the local congregation, its classes or organizations, and its members. This could be a personal gift for the Annual Fund, a gift from a Sunday School class to support a pastor or orphan in India, or a Faith Promise gift from a church to help support one of our Global Partners. The ministries of the Brethren Church reach from our own communities to across the globe.

Brethren Relief
The Brethren have always been a compassionate people, and we want to be as strategic with our disaster response as possible. To allow more flexibility to address such needs, the Executive Board has created a new Brethren Church Relief and Development Fund (Brethren Relief, for short). To donate, please follow the specific instructions that will be given when disaster strikes.

While it doesn’t seem to be very exciting or glamorous, there is always a need for Designated Gifts. This could be for a specific ministry or Global Partner supported by The Brethren Church’s regular budget. Or it could just be for the general support of our budget. Help Grow The Brethren Church
The Revolving Loan Fund is used to help existing Brethren Churches grow. Money from this fund is available for low interest loans for various building programs of Brethren Churches.
We gratefully accept gifts to the Revolving Fund. Your tax-deductible gifts not only become available to help Brethren Churches, but they also reduce the cost of the loans issued to churches for their building and expansion programs.

Every year we encourage the Brethren to give a little extra through the Annual Fund. Gifts given through this campaign help us meet ministry needs we weren’t aware of during the budgeting process.
