On Sunday, September 15th, Mt. Olive Brethren surprised Pastor Fred and Pam Miller with a carry-in meal and celebration of their 30 years of ministry and being part of our family.  Their sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren were celebrated as well.  The surprise was two months in the making and worth all the fun of keeping a secret as Pastor Fred was for a moment speechless when told of our gratitude and love for their years of leadership with us.

One of our members told of Fred and Pam’s interview over 30 years ago.  At the restaurant Andy was in a baby carrier on the table as they gathered around to get to know this young family.  Now their youngest grandchild Owen sits in the fellowship hall at the table with us.  David a young boy has grown in our midst and now he serves as our Youth Pastor and is an ordained elder in the Brethren Church.  He and his wife Aerika now make an impact on young lives as we also enjoy their children, Nora and Ryder.  Fred’s mom, Freda Miller from Pennsylvania, was able to join in the day making four generations in attendance.  The picture of Pastor Fred’s family was taken at the celebration.

After 30 years both Pastor Fred and Pam are family to us all.  Even with new people in the church they quickly feel like family through the warmth and love of Pastor Fred and Pam.  As a church congregation we are blessed to have Pastor Fred and his family here with us and look forward to many more years to come!

Congratulations, Fred and Pam. You've had a marvelous ministry at Mt. Olive and beyond. . . . And I can attest to the congregation's ability to keep a big secret!
