Fred Miller, senior pastor at Mount Olive Brethren Church (McGaheysville, VA) had a special honor on a recent Sunday. While baptizing anyone is always a special privilege for a pastor, some recent baptisms at the church carried a little extra weight. Fred had the honor of baptizing Adam Piner. Adam is just the most recent in a line of family baptisms, all of which Fred baptized. Adam's father, Jerry, as well as his grandfather, Wes Cash, and his great-grandfather JR Dofflemyer. That's four generations that Fred has now baptized, with a whole host of others within each of those generations.
It's a neat moment, and a beautiful picture of God's family enlarging through this one family. In total, Mt. Olive baptized four believers on that Sunday.
"3Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him.
4Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.
5Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them."Psalm 127:3-5a
