Crossway Christian Fellowship Celebrates Building Dedication
On Sunday, May 7, 2023, Crossway Christian Fellowship celebrated the dedication of its new location at 18501 Maugans Avenue on the north side of Hagerstown, Maryland.
Jeff Meek, board chairman opened up the evening with some remarks a recognition of the board members, and prayer. Melanie Witmer, the children's ministry director shared briefly about the children's ministry and then the children and youth of the church performed a selection for the congregation. Following that, Pastor Matt Price led the congregation in a hymn sing in which we enjoyed a dozen or so favorite hymns. Greetings were shared by Gail Heiston, Regional Resource Coordinator for the Southeast Region of The Brethren Church, and Michael Cook, Ministry Support Specialist for the Brethren Church.
Following these greetings, Pastor Brad Reaves took a moment to remember the individuals who had passed during the life of Crossway Christian Fellowship. A plaque was dedicated to the memory of Brother Mark DeAngelis, who passed as the result of a traffic accident last fall. Mark was committed to evangelism and ministry, and especially to the motorcycling community where he was chapter president of the Remnant Sons Motorcycle Club. His personal motto, “If it ain’t about Jesus, it ain’t about nothing,” wasn’t simply spoken - he lived it.
Pastor Brad then recounted the process that led to their procurement of the new facility and how God had ordained the process and led the way throughout. Along the way, the people of Crossway have met in a community room, a school, a hotel, and in an office space. Their new location was formerly a veterinary clinic. In fact, where the pulpit stands now is where the dog washing stations had been previously. The water connections are still in the wall and the drain is still in the floor; they are all set up to perform baptisms and have some folks preparing to be baptized in the coming weeks!
Pastor Brad encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in seeking God through his Word. He then reminded those in attendance that just as the world is not our home, this building is not our destination. It is something that God has given us to use to his glory. The service then closed with a litany of dedication and prayer. A reception with cake and coffee was held following the service.
Respectfully submitted,

Michael Cook
